Paul Schwitzgebel's years of grassroots activism include his coming out as a student at Yale Divinity School in 1970; acting as an "AIDS warrior" challenging the system by doing HIV/AIDS advocacy/education/and ministry in the 80's and 90's; and being jailed in Strongsville for holding aloft a sign criticizing the government's inaction on HIV/AIDS at a George H.W. Bush campaign rally.
He is a founding member of Equality Ohio, currently serving as Treasurer and as the Northeast Ohio regional rep.
For a decade, Paul served as a Democratic precinct committeeperson.
Paul lives in Canton and divides his time about equally between Stark and Summit counties. His BSc from Ohio State and MBA from the University of Michigan academically credential him to serve as an Adjunct Professor at both Stark State Technical College and at Summit College at the University of Akron.
